In a stunning and unexpected decision, Kevin Walters steps down as head coach of the Brisbane Broncos after a disappointing season. A former club great, Walters led Brisbane from wooden spoon recipients to just losing a Grand Final last year to the Penrith Panthers in what has been called the greatest comeback of all time.

Walters told ABC News in a press conference that the decision to leave was mutual as he and the board felt the path forward required it. Brisbane are yet to name a replacement coach for 2025 and beyond. More to come.
